24 Hours of LeMons was AWESOME!

So those that didn't know, I am partook in a race called the 24 Hours of LeMons last Saturday and Sunday, and it was AMAZINGLY fun!

I took all of last week off and basically dedicated it to cars (which is a pretty damn good way to spend a week if you ask me), it went something like this;
  • Saturday12/20 = Drive from LA to Bay Area.
  • Sunday 12/21 = Head over to Ben's house and work on the race car till 2am.
  • Monday 12/22 = Ben's house again. The team needed to finish installing the seat and harnesses, installing 3rd tail light, changing of all fluids, installing new shifter, cleaning up wiring in engine bay, tune the engine, get decent tires mounted, move battery to back of car, clean up all wiring in cockpit, attempt to put on new lower control arms, install the fire suppression system, wash car, and apply all decals to the outside. Oh yeah, at Ben's till 2am.
  • Tuesday 12/23 = See Monday
  • Wednesday 12/24 = See Monday
  • Thursday 12/25 = Go to XMas party and stay up till 3am.
  • Friday 12/26 = Wake up at 5am to head to Sacramento to pickup Andrew and then head to the track to stake a claim on some good covered paddock space, since we expected rain. We then did a track day in Andrew's track prepped miata just to get some track time in, but his clutch started to go, so we parked his car and called it a day.

Yeah yeah, I bought a new race suit..

That last suit (The Challenge by Sparco) was nice, very nice actually. 3 Layer, Exceeded SFI3.2/5 fire safety ratings, but was as thick as a frickin comforter (or at least it felt that way), so I went ahead and traded it in for another 3 layer suit, called the Sparco "Sparco". Yes the model name is the same as the brand, don't ask me. Its just as safe, but is about 2/3's as thick and bulky, which means it is quite comfortable. They didnt have it in grey, so I went out on a limb, and bought a crazy color called "Celeste". Check it out (and as the crasftman poinmted out, I am INDEED a Sparco fanboy.)

New pictures, right after a detail!

This car transformed from being beautiful to being something greater than umm, well, beautiful I suppose. I took it to a place in West Hollywood called Melrose Strip Detail to get it gone over, and my lord they did an amazing job. Any and all swirls marks, gone. All little detritis chillin on the paint, gone, the whole thing just looks amazing. Oh yeah, and it was all for $109.95!
